What is a Pull Request?

A request to review and merge changes from one branch into another.

A request, not a merge

A pull request (PR) proposes merging changes from one branch (or fork) into another. It's a request for review — nothing merges automatically.

Opening a PR is like submitting a manuscript to an editor — it gets read, discussed and revised before it's published to the "official" book.

PRs catch bugs early, spread knowledge across the team, keep main stable, and leave a paper trail of why a change was made.
