Trying AWS services without a surprise bill, if you watch usage.

Three kinds of free

Always free offers (small limits, forever, e.g. some Lambda requests). 12 months free offers for new accounts (e.g. a small EC2 instance). Short-term trials for specific services.

Watch your usage

Free tier limits are per-service and reset monthly — exceed them and you're billed normally. Check the Billing dashboard's free tier usage page regularly, especially while learning.
