## What is new in 2.2

WCAG 2.2 (October 2023) builds on 2.1 and adds nine criteria. Key ones at Level AA:

- **Focus Not Obscured (2.4.11)**: a focused control is not fully hidden by sticky headers or banners.
- **Target Size, Minimum (2.5.8)**: pointer targets are at least 24×24 CSS pixels.
- **Dragging Movements (2.5.7)**: provide a non-drag alternative.
- **Accessible Authentication (3.3.8)**: do not require a cognitive test such as memorising a password.
- **Consistent Help (3.2.6)** and **Redundant Entry (3.3.7)**.

## Adopting 2.2

WCAG 2.2 is backward compatible: a site that meets 2.2 also meets 2.1. Target 2.2 AA for new work, and keep 2.1 AA if a law or contract names it.
